Regular hedge trimming is the key to keeping them healthy and looking good. Spring and fall are the best times to trim evergreen hedges, while deciduous hedges may require trimming multiple times throughout the growing season. When it comes to actually trimming, the amount that is removed and the methods that we use can change. On a well maintained hedge that's trimmed regularly, less material needs to be removed and less time is required to do the work. Whereas a previously unmaintained hedge that we're trying to reclaim may need to have larger sections removed along with the shaping and trimming required. Depending on the condition of the hedge, this could take up to a few seasons of growing and regular trimming before the desired result is achieved.
